For The Health Of It

I recently read an article in VIE Magazine about an amazing health food store in Blue Mountain Beach that I pass almost every day, but have never been in. Our own Lori Smith, who also lives near there, absolutely loves the store. It is called “For The Health Of It” and is located on 30-A right across the street from Sally’s By The Sea (2217 W. Hwy 30-A, to be exact).

For The Health Of It is owned by Ed Berry and Rachel Morgan, and have been in business since 1995.  Rachel is a 3rd generation local store owner, with deep roots in farming. They are very knowledgeable about the products they carry, and are also seen as a resource in the community for questions on anything “green”.

For more information you can visit their website at: http://www.shopforthehealthofit.com, call them at (850) 267-0558, or even better, just stop in!

Some Points of Interest Along Florida’s Scenic 30-A

Rosemary Beach: One of 30-A’s several planned “New Urbanist” communities, Rosemary Beach is an architectural treasure trove, boasting influences from the West Indies, New Orleans, Charleston and St. Augustine, among others. The homes (most with adjoining carriage houses) are interconnected by discreet pedestrian paths and board walks, which become even more charming at night, basked in the soft flicker of gas-lit lanterns.

Alys Beach: 30-A’s newest, and perhaps most visually striking, community that features architecture influenced by the stark white estate homes of Bermuda. The planned community features a 21 acre nature preserve, an amphitheater, parks, tennis courts, and Caliza – one of the most elegant new swimming pools and restaurants in the world.

Grayton Beach: One of 30-A’s oldest and most beloved communities, Grayton Beach is a true Gulf Coast original. It is populated with historic cottages, twisting oak trees, quaint shops, galleries, and fun and quirky residents (the community’s unnoficial slogan is “Nice Dogs, Strange People). Grayton Beach is also one of the few places you can drive a 4WD vehicle directly onto the sand…but only with a proper permit.
